The Vancouver Canucks have recalled former 1st round pick Michael Grabner from the Manitoba Moose. Grabner has been impressive thus far for the Moose, recording 4 goals and 2 assists in 5 games. He was disappointing in the pre-season, but the Canucks are willing to give him another shot Friday against the Flames.
Our Take: A little surprising that they called up Grabner instead of Sergei Shirokov considering Shirokov drastically outplayed Grabner in the pre-season and by all accounts Shirokov has been the most impressive player for Manitoba so far in the young season. Grabner has said that he felt extremely nervous in the pre-season, which makes you wonder how he will feel in an important division matchup and in hostile enemy territory in Calgary. Expect the Canucks brass to have a short leash with the young Austrian, so if he doesn't perform on Friday, he could be sent down instantly.
